Daddy's Home

After Tyler spent 8 long days in Singapore it is sooooooooo nice for daddy to be home.  Even if he is now working 10 or 11 hour days because he is so busy, I can't complain because we are lucky that he has work, and we are lucky that he is here.

As soon as Tyler got off his plane (he is a trooper, he had been traveling for around 30 hours) he picked up Gem and they went to her school's Halloween carnival.  She is Pinkie Pie the pony (from My Little Pony).  I will get better pictures of her costume tomorrow on Halloween.  They only spent 5 dollars and Gem got to play tons of games, and watch a half hour magic show.  I think they had a good time.
Daddy brought home pretty kimonos from Singapore for the girls.  They are super cute, but unfortunately silk doesn't wash very well, so I will do my best to keep them from getting stained, but I make no promises.

Levi got some silky pj's.  Again I make no promises on how long they last, that is why I had to take pictures while they still look good.
On a side note we went to the doctor yesterday, and everything with new baby Luke is still looking good.  We have six weeks to go (wow! that's not very long) and the doctor estimated (using an ultrasound) that Luke is about five pounds now.

Gem

I got Gem's school picture today.  I must say I was rather impressed.  For one I had despaired that her hair would look nothing like how it was when I sent her on the bus.  But apparently I put enough hair spray on.  Secondly (and I don't know how the photographer did it) they got her to actually smile.  So I suppose my fifteen dollars was well spent buying the cd.
Today was crazy hair day at school.  I am sure by the end of all of the kids' school careers I will be very tired of crazy hair day, but for now it was kind of funny.  The pictures look a little weird, but it is just three ponytails with three different colored bows.

Painting Pumpkins

We had some fun painting pumpkins for family home evening on Monday.  I just bought a set of crayola washable paint for a couple bucks, and it kept everyone happy for a good twenty minutes which is really saying something.  You can see that both the babies started out clean.  Gem actually did a pretty good job of staying clean the whole time, I didn't even make her wear a bag like the babies :)

It didn't take long for June to get pretty messy.  She had fun painting the pumpkin and also the newspapers.  Sometimes she even opted the forgo the paintbrush.  Once she tasted the paint but she obviously didn't like it, because she didn't do that again.

One of Gem's finished pumpkins is above.  I think it turned out pretty good.  She also got lucky and was able to paint mine and Tyler's pumpkins.  She was pleased about that.  Daddy was out of town, and I was on picture and keep everyone-under-control duty.
Levi didn't really understand about putting the paint all over the pumpkin, he just kept putting it in the same spot, but I think it turned out rather nice.  He loves the color purple, so he used up all the purple first; it was the base coat of his pumpkin.  Eventually he realized there was no more purple and he was forced to use some other colors also.

So from left to right we have June's pumpkin, Levi's pumpkin, and then the three painted by Gem.
Happy Halloween!

New Favorites

The times they are a changing here at the Ross house.  There was once upon a time a happy little boy who lived here.  I don't know where he went, but it is too bad.

Levi used to be my "favorite" but no longer, he has turned into a crazy person.  He doesn't get enough sleep and he cries about everything.   For example the last few mornings I ask him what he wants for breakfast, and like a little waitress I get him whatever he asks for, then he has a tantrum because invariably he changes his mind.

Today I tried to take all three children to the Treehouse Museum, thinking that would be a fun outing (obviously I am also a crazy person).   Basically with three kids what happens is nobody gets to do anything they want to do.  And one little boy was not very happy about it, and he cried and tried to run away multiple times.  Maybe I should have just let him go :)

Thirdly it doesn't help that he wakes up way earlier than his little two year old body should.  When I woke up this morning at six thirty he already had the light on in the living room and had been playing for an unknown amount of time.

Luckily June is still happy and easily distracted, I think it is high time for her to be the favorite.

Funny Pics

Uncle Steve found this blow-up sumo costume at a thrift store.  Both the kids thought it was funny when the other one was wearing it, but not as funny when they were wearing it :)

Uncle Steve also brought his kite chain over to fly.  It was pretty cool. A chain of fifty kites, I am glad he took that with him, because I don't want to try and keep it from getting tangled.

A Favorite Toy

I can't believe how long it has been since I updated the blog.  Like seriously a long time.  Oh well, I suppose the most important thing of everyone else's life isn't what is going on in my life.  I haven't taken many videos of the babies lately, which is really a crime.  Because they are pretty darn cute.  So my resolution for the next couple of weeks is to try and get some video of Levi and June doing all the funny stuff that they do, which they won't be doing six months from now.

June and Levi love to play with the marbles, (the only problem is they (the babies) aren't very delicate).  I end up having to rebuild it a few times a day.  June just thinks it is so funny, she has no comprehension of where the marble is going to go or why.  For her it is magic.
