The Last Little While

Gem lost her second tooth the other day, after having it dangling by a thread for days on end.  The one next to it is a little loose now, it will be funny when she doesn't have any front teeth.

Oh yah, and Levi turned 2 the other day.  I can already see the terrible two's beginning, he is starting to want things and have tantrums when he doesn't get his way.  He got moved into a real bed, which means he is pretty tired most of the time, we got rid of nap time and he stays up way too late wandering around the bedroom.  The last few days he has fallen asleep around four in the afternoon, which means that when bedtime rolls around he isn't very tired.  Oh well.  Also we are easing ourselves into potty training, he goes potty a couple times a day.  I think we will hit that project full force after swimming lessons is over.

So last weekend we went to Porcupine Reservoir with some of my friends.  It was enjoyable to see everyone and chat.  Tyler and I had a good time.  The kids did not like playing by the reservoir though.  Gem basically whined the whole time, and Levi actually feel asleep sitting on my lap.  Neither of them liked squishing in the mud in the reservoir.  Why are my kids so weird?  Most kids would die to wander around and throw rocks in the water and get wet and muddy.

Ice Cream

Basically Levi's primary goal in life is to get ice cream.  Everything else is a hindrance to him eating ice cream.  Also he is too proud too eat off another person's spoon, it is either his own or nothing.

These happy little pictures were from our family home evening a couple weeks ago.  We went and walked around the new Brigham City Temple, and then stopped on the way home for some ice cream and french fries.  We all enjoyed it, especially baby June who loves to eat most anything.

On another side note, we are doing swimming lessons this week.  Levi is in the pre pre class, that means he just plays while I follow him around in the water.  Unfortunately for Gem I felt like she was to old for the littlest class, so she is in a class where they actually want to do stuff.  This is a little difficult for her, she is so timid of the water.  She won't even get her face wet in the shower, let alone dunk her head in a pool.  As far as I can tell from watching the class, she doesn't do anything, while all the other kids practice bobbing and floating and such.  Oh well, I guess she will just have to struggle through this year and then try again next year.

Around the House

Sometimes we like to pretend that we are domesticated around here.  We made freezer jam out of plumcots that we picked off of our plumcot tree.  There were only three instructions and we didn't follow them to the exact letter so I am not sure if we ended up with jam or not, we will have to wait and see.
Our garden is doing super.  This is a shot of the corn and the pumpkins, hopefully the corn will be ready shortly.  But we have already gotten cucumbers, green bell peppers, lettuce, carrots, peas, and potatoes.  We can see that we are going to have an excess of tomatoes, for some reason we decide to plant romas, cherries, and beef steak tomatoes.  It is going to be a little bit of a "tomatogeddon" around here. On the other side of the house, I have even seen one lone honeydew on our melon plants, he is a bit of a trooper.

Family Reunion

We took a fun road trip this past week to a family reunion in Colorado.  On the way we stopped in Vernal, we got to see the Vernal temple which was really nice.  Then we went to Dinosaur National Park, which was also fun.

If you look behind us you can see the wall of bones, we also got to see some awesome petroglyphs.

Finally we made it to family reunion.  The first morning we had the olympic games, including but not limited to grape spitting (see above), and balloon balancing, (see below).  There were many different events at which we all failed splendidly.

However we found one event in which our family was not to be beaten.  The eat-an-oreo-off-of-your-face event.  We won each heat and even Gem did it.

One other event was won by our family.  The potatoe derby.  The championship match was Tyler vs. Tyler with Tyler coming out the winner with the most excellent of potatoe cars.

If you noticed that there aren't really any pictures of baby June, that's because she was a little bit of a party pooper this trip.  She didn't enjoy being in such a strange place with so many strange people.  However the rest of us had a great time.

Gem is 5!

Gem had a fun birthday yesterday.  She rode the train down to Salt Lake with Levi, her dad, her cousin, and her grandma and grandpa.  June and I opted to meet them down there. While we were in Salt Lake we went to the Children's Museum at the Gateway.  The kids had lots of fun playing with all the exhibits.

June thought she was in heaven in the kids sized grocery store.  Unluckily for her the food wasn't actually edible.

Levi really really enjoyed these air tubes.  You can hear his scream one time in each video but imagine that forty or fifty times in a row.  I think he was scaring all the other kids away.

That night Gem had lots of grandmas and grandpas over to open her presents and eat her cake.  Her favorite gift by far was the Rapunzel dolls she got from her grandma Ross.  Below she is posing for a picture next to her "pony and unicorn" cake.  She requested a pony and unicorn cake a few weeks ago, and had been saving her pony shirt too wear for this special day.  The secret to make a successful pony and unicorn cake, is to make a regular cake and purchase one pony and one unicorn to go on top of it.  I think she was pleased over all with her 5 year old birthday.
