SideWalk Chalk

Today after lunch I let Gem play with her enormous box of sidewalk chalk, which contains more sidewalk chalk then should be allotted to one child. I should be giving some of this chalk away to needy children, without chalk, around the world.

Anyway she didn't actually want to draw with it she just wanted to take them out of the box and try to put them back in the box. After twenty minutes she only had drawn what you see on the second picture.

Then all she wanted to do was have me draw characters from Winnie the Pooh. I have not included pictures of my renditions because I did not feel this was my best work.

PhD Hooray!!

Yes, Tyler has done it. He officially has his doctorate, and I even had it framed, to remind us every day how we will never ever do that again.

Unfortunately, just when we thought it was time to party, Tyler still has to study for his exam on the 23rd and 24th of October. That is if either of us can make it until then. Only four weeks to go. Then, cross your fingers, we might finally have time to do, well, anything.

Funny Gem Sayings

Here in the Ross household we aren't doing too much of anything, since Tyler is still spending all not-at-work time studying for his license exam. So I don't have any fun outings to share, but I thought I could share with you some of the funny things Gem says now that she is starting to talk.

There are more than just four, it just happens that these are the only ones I can think of right now.

  1. Our favorite show to watch is Phineas and Ferb, it comes on at 3:00 which is about the time when we start waiting for Tyler to come home. Well when it is over, unfortunately, it is over. Gem does not understand how I can let this happen. So when it is over she calls repeatedly for "moan Foo" (translation: "more Ferb"). I don't understand why she puts an "n" in the word more.
  2. The other day we were out on the patio playing with bubbles. (A favorite pastime) Now that Gem talks she always tells me where the bubbles "paa" (translation: popped) Well on this fateful afternoon a bubble happened to land on her bum. So for the rest of the day there was constant chatter about her "bubble bun".
  3. Another funny thing, she has begun pretending things. So she takes her winnie the pooh doll and puts it in her little crib, gives it a kiss, and goes and shuts the bedroom door saying "ni' pooh". I guess that isn't as funny as it is cute, oh well.
  4. Finally, after lunch I always let her watch a movie, so I can eat lunch in relative peace. Well one after lunch special was Blues Clues. They were learning about colors. Joe asked "What color is it?" Gem shouts back to the t.v. "poople" then the TV responds "That's right it's yellow" Gem, with no shame, replies "lellow". As if she knew it all along.

Playing with Gem

We try to be good parents. So at bedtime we usually play with Gem for half an hour or so. (that makes up for ignoring her all day right?)

Utah Trip

A couple weeks ago we took a trip to Utah. As is usual I think Gem's favorite part is swimming in the hotel swimming pool on the way to and from Utah. Oh well

As you all know Utah has many fun things to do and see. We, however, only saw two, a cabin owned by my father (I am not actually sure if it is even in Utah) and the Hogle zoo.
We went to the Hogle zoo on Wednesday which was Tyler's dad's birthday. We had a great time looking at all the usual zoo animals. The picture below was the best we got of any of the animals.

We had such a great time, we plan on going back at Christmas!

A New Blog!

Yes, it is true after extensive peer pressure and practically being blogged to death by others (you know who you are), we have joined the socially acceptable world of the blogger.

However, I may or may not be telling the whole or even part of the truth as you can tell by the name of our blog. (Look the word up) The things I will be laying out on this Internet stage, will be the truth as I remember it. So be warned I do not guarantee 100% accuracy. Or as Mark Twain once said "It isn't so astonishing, the number of things that I can remember, as the number of things I can remember that aren't so."

To give credit where credit is due, Tyler discovered the fabulous word "tarradiddle". Which not only includes my name but makes a fantastic blog title. I had considered using Ross Rubbish as a title, or Tyler thought Tyler & Tara's Tantrum Tales. But I vetoed the second one for the obvious reason that Tyler's name is first.

Anyway what I am trying to say is I will do my best to post sometimes, for those of you who want to keep up with the Ross Household, however I can't do any sort of "cutesy" blog, because that's just not me, so if you don't like it then stop reading it.
