Too Weird

Just when I thought I had seen every sleeping position, we walked in on her like this.

New and Funny Gem-isms

Gem talks a lot now. And she repeats things I say but tries to use them herself. It is pretty funny, for example, she now tells me how soon she is going to do things. "Gem a play a room da ten minuts" "Gem da go outside da three minuts". If only she actually knew what a minute was.

She has begun spelling words she sees and then guessing what they say by what the picture is. The only one she has gotten right so far was "T-E-M-P-L-E spells temple". That one was pretty obvious. I laughed pretty hard when she looked at the diapers box and proclaimed that H-U-G-G-I-E-S spells babies. In the car she lists all the letters on her car seat and says it spells "Gem's seat". Well, today in the car she saw three letters and this is what I heard from the front seat. "G-O-D spells Gem!" I thought I was going to die, and explained to her yet again that G-E-M spells Gem.

She also likes to compare things. She tells me things such as the sun is like the moon, and the plane is like a bird. Well today she was going on about elephants and I asked her if she was an elephant. She said no, so I asked her what she was. She replied that she was a baby. I said "you're not a baby" and she looked right at me and said "I kinda lika baby".

An Update

It is has been a week since I posted, and it feels like forever. I don't really have anything to say I just should say something.

So I finally caved. Fewer and fewer of my pants were fitting comfortably so I went to Ross and bought 3 elastic skirts. I have 13 weeks to go and I didn't want to buy a pair of maternity pants that I can't wear later so I bought some elastic skirts that I can wear even after I have the baby. I just really can't justify buying clothes for only 3 months it seems so wasteful.

I read that the baby should be about two pounds by now. And that his eyes should open anytime now.

Tyler and I have been only using one car for the last little while. I think it has been good for us, mostly Tyler since it forces him to exercise, but also it has made me realize we aren't as dependent on the car as I thought we were. Having one car is definitely do-able if we ever need too. Though I will be happy when we get our other car back.

Tyler and I went through all his photos and memorabilia over the weekend. It is mostly mission stuff but there is a little bit of pre and post mission photos and things. Anyway it gave me a major headache because it was not organized at all. But we spent a few hours and got it all in order and now we just need to put it into some books. It will be worth it, I just hope we don't spend months finishing up this project.

Cinderella, Cinderella

Today at storytime we recited the epic story of Brown Bear. For those of you who don't know it, it goes "Brown Bear, Brown Bear what do you see? I see a Red Bird looking at me. Red Bird Red Bird what do you see?" etc and so forth with many different colored animals.

Well I was sitting here at the computer minding my own business while Gem was playing in the other room with her Cinderella felt board when I hear. "Glass Slipper, Glass Slipper what do you see? I see Cinderella looking at me. Cinderella, Cinderella what do you see? I see a Fairy Godmother looking at me." I quickly swiped my camera and attempted to sneak up on my funny daughter. Unfortunately this is what I got:(

A Saturday with the Rosses

How many books are too many books? That is a tough question to ask.
Tyler and I love going to library book sales. How can you turn down a classic for a quarter, or a kids book for ten cents? Anyway we love our books, and we have found ourselves in a bit of a conundrum. We don't have anywhere to put them. So after we got home from our trip to the library sale, we sat down in our office and made a little graph paper model of the room. We then cut out little pieces of furniture and tried to see if we could fit our furniture in this room in any other way (Plus a rocking chair that will be moving in to the office when the new baby comes). Well, we can. . . we just have to get rid of the couch. We decided, if that is the price we must pay to get more bookshelves, so be it. So this afternoon we will be heading out to town to find two more bookshelves and moving our couch down to the garage until someone wants to get it from us.
Our dream is to have a library some day, with built in bookshelves all around the room. But for now we are just buying the cheapest bookshelves we can find and hoping that they don't collapse on us while we are pulling the books off of the shelf.
Tyler feels a little guilty because we get so many books and he doesn't really have time to read them all, so we have decided we will start devoting an hour on Saturdays and his Fridays off to just reading time. Hooray!! It will be like those read-a-thons I had back in elementary school, my favorite day of the whole school year.

A Fun Easter Weekend

Gem had fun with my family over Easter weekend. She cried when they went home. Probably her favorite part was swimming at the hotel swimming pool. She loves to swim. She kicks her feet and moves about as fast as a snail, but she wants to do it all by herself.

We also went up to Santa Barbara and went to the zoo, State Street, and a big park. On Monday morning the first thing Gem asked me was if we could go look at the animals with grandpa. I had to tell her that they all were at their house. :( Anyway we had a fun Easter weekend.
