How many books are too many books? That is a tough question to ask.
Tyler and I love going to library book sales. How can you turn down a classic for a quarter, or a kids book for ten cents? Anyway we love our books, and we have found ourselves in a bit of a conundrum. We don't have anywhere to put them. So after we got home from our trip to the library sale, we sat down in our office and made a little graph paper model of the room. We then cut out little pieces of furniture and tried to see if we could fit our furniture in this room in any other way (Plus a rocking chair that will be moving in to the office when the new baby comes). Well, we can. . . we just have to get rid of the couch. We decided, if that is the price we must pay to get more bookshelves, so be it. So this afternoon we will be heading out to town to find two more bookshelves and moving our couch down to the garage until someone wants to get it from us.
Our dream is to have a library some day, with built in bookshelves all around the room. But for now we are just buying the cheapest bookshelves we can find and hoping that they don't collapse on us while we are pulling the books off of the shelf.
Tyler feels a little guilty because we get so many books and he doesn't really have time to read them all, so we have decided we will start devoting an hour on Saturdays and his Fridays off to just reading time. Hooray!! It will be like those read-a-thons I had back in elementary school, my favorite day of the whole school year.
where will you sit when we webcam?
ReplyDeletethat's awesome...we love ikea bookshelves, fairly cheap and they all go together so we know where to get more!
ReplyDeleteSeriously, SSR was the best part of my school day! Have fun enjoying your collection.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about bookshelves. We bought that nice set of shelves from IKEA and it's already two rows deep on some!
