Gem's Room

We really wanted to add some color to the kid room, before the new baby was born, so we decided to paint a mural. Above I have the entire thing. I drew it all on the wall and Tyler helped me paint it. He painted the mountains and they are his favorite part. I like the whole thing.

At the Beach

A week ago, we took a little diversion to the beach. We biked down to the end of Ventura Road and took some snacks, water, and sand toys. Gem was very excited until we got there and she stepped in the water.

As you can see this is when she is running away from the ocean.

She didn't enjoy our trip very much it was pretty windy, and she got bored pretty fast.

Saved by a Popsicle

I thought I would share with you what it is like to have dinner at our house. Last night for dinner I made rice, chicken, and veggies. So we gave Gem a little bit of everything. She eats very slowly. Tyler and I figured she was pretty much done because she was eating so slowly. I finished off the rice and Tyler finished off the veggies and chicken. After we began cleaning up, we hear from the table "morn rice, morn twees (broccoli), morn chikin". She announced this as though it was one of her inalienable rights. Tyler and I looked at each other and all the empty dishes, and felt bad that there was no more food for our daughter. So being a gracious mother I asked if she would like a popsicle. She promptly responded in a very authoritarian manner "ah done rice, ah done twees, ah done chikin. Gem eat pa-sikle" So we were saved once again by popsicles.

Mini Baby Update

I am 23ish weeks along, and I read today that the baby should weigh about 1 pound by now, and should be gaining weight around 6 ounces per week. The skin is starting to get skin colored also, and the bones in the inner ear are hardening.

Tyler and I still haven't fallen in love with any name. We are leaning toward Levi, however still thinking about Jet, Max, or Dax. If you know any short super cool boy names send them my way.

Our New Bedroom

We finished our room remodel. Sorry the video is so bad, I couldn't do any better. Come see it in person then you can see how awesome it is. As soon as we finished our bedroom we promptly decided to plaster the wall above our hallway sink, and redo Gem's closet doors. (I am not telling what we are doing, until it is all done.) My friend Ann has accused me of nesting. Whatever, our house is looking awesomer everyday.

San Diego Last Weekend and other Stuff

Last Monday Tyler had a class in San Diego, so Sunday night we headed down, we got to stay at a really nice Residence Inn in the Gas Lamp District. Anyway of course as soon as we get there Gem promptly gets a fever. I think bacteria are attracted to vacationing children. So Gem and I spent a relaxing day in the hotel room on Monday. Then Tuesday morning we stopped at the San Diego Temple we let Gem go up and touch the temple, and she will still tell you about it. We got a picture but Gem would not show her face because it was very windy.

After the temple we went to the Santa Ana zoo, because we could get in free with our Santa Barbara zoo passes. It was very nice (lots of monkeys), but they were renovating so it was very small, so small that we only spent an hour there. We still had a half day left, so we went and got a great lunch at the Souplantation and then headed to Disneyland for the second half of the day. Below are the characters that Gem met up with. (If you will notice Tyler matched his favorite character)

I don't really want to make anyone out there feel deprived by how many times we go to Disneyland, just remember that we can't ride anything made for anyone over 36 inches tall.
