Under the Bed

Yesterday I found Levi happily playing under Gem's bed. (Have I mentioned that he is a menace?) I ran to get the camera, because I thought it was funny that he was stuck under there. It turns out he wasn't stuck at all. As soon as he saw the camera he made a bee-line for it. These are the action shots I got along the way.

Easter

I try not to overdo holidays, but the Easter bunny did visit our house. And we even let Gem go see what the Easter bunny brought her after making her tell us what really happened on Easter basically a bazillion times. Gem got some new sparkly jelly shoes for the summer. And Levi got some slip-on plaid shoes, that didn't fit on his chubby feet. So we cut slits in the elastic part of the shoes, so they can now slip on his feet, and slip off in a matter of a milisecond. Oh well, I guess the Easter bunny will have to get him some Velcro shoes next time.

Stage 4

Tyler has slowly but surely been putting our sprinklers together, with a little help from me. Basically I am only good at digging holes. This week we should be completely done with sprinklers, Tyler started wiring each zone to the timer yesterday and probably tomorrow or the next day we can test them out, bury the heads, and adjust them accordingly.

Poor Levi is always stuck in the playpen, he usually does pretty well for an hour or so.

Our big Saturday project was curbing. My friend Mitch had access to a curbing machine we could use, and he helped us out all day. And I mean all day we were outside from about 7 AM to 7 PM. Though Gem got to escape to her cousin Colby's house for a little while, for an Easter egg hunt.

My dad mixed all fifty loads of cement for us, and you can tell. After all was said and done we laid out about 600 feet of curbing and it looks amazing. I am sure I will get some pictures of it when the grass comes in. And we probably saved about $1000 doing it ourselves :)

Happy Easter!

A Day in the Life of Us

  • It all started yesterday. Unfortunately, yesterday was stake conference, a twice a year affair in which all parents and children are tortured for two hours while others in the room try to ignore the above mentioned children and parents. So yesterday wasn't a great day.

  • Then this morning we looked outside and it was soaking wet and rainy, which means that our fence would not be installed today. :( It turns out rain, mud, and pouring cement don't mix well. So we should have taken that as an omen that Tyler and I were not to do anything else again for the rest of the day, but that isn't an option as there are children to take care of and work to be done. After breakfast I got my grocery list done, and then I listened to Tyler practice for a presentation he is giving in D.C. on Wednesday, so far so good.

  • The trip to the grocery store was uneventful though I had four or five items on my list that had sold out, and I forgot baby food, oh well, that's not a big deal.

  • When I got home from the grocery store, and I proceed to put some items in my freezer, when I notice that basically nothing in the freezer is frozen anymore. So Tyler and I assess the situation. Which means basically we looked at all the food, decided that it was not frozen, and then we stuffed it all into our tiny freezer above the fridge. Then we dug out the receipt. Phew, we wiped our brows because we were still in the 90 day window to return/exchange the freezer.

  • Tyler called up the store, made sure they had one in stock and then we haul the freezer out to the car and he headed to the store. At the store we decided that this time around we are going to buy the $40, two-year warranty because it is apparent that we need it.

  • While Tyler was at the store I got a call from my mom. I told her our predicament, and she said "well that's weird. Are you sure it is the freezer, or is it the outlet?" I told her the freezer was already gone, so it didn't matter at this point, and I went along my merry way.

  • Then a short while later I got a call from Tyler, who was attempting to start a car that didn't want to start. Great, that was the second time in three days our battery had died. So after Tyler got the car jump-started he headed over to Costco, where he bought a new battery. After heading out of the store he gets to the car, and surprise, surprise the car doesn't start. Well he had his new battery in hand and he lifted the hood to put in the new battery. He began to loosen the old battery, and after a minute or two realized that instead of loosening it he had tightened it significantly. He tried starting the car again and it started right up. What an easy fix. But to be on the safe side, he still brought the $70 battery home.

  • Once Tyler returned home, we unpacked the freezer and hauled it down the stairs. We plugged it in, and it didn't turn on. So then we turned to the outlet and Tyler realized that outlet had been off the whole time. We turned it on, and then the freezer worked no problem at all.

  • Oh well, I mean really, what is three hours and $110 dollars in the grand scheme of things?

Levi is turning into a menace. A very happy congenial menace but a menace none the less. He has become a little too mobile and because he is so big he wreaks havoc where-ever he goes. Yesterday he managed to leap into the bathtub while I was doing Gem's hair. His favorite activity is opening the nearest drawer and pulling out whatever is inside. He is also intrigued by doors, and he loves to close himself into rooms. Case in point below. At grandma's house he crawled into the office, shut the door behind him, and then stood up at the glass and began to beat on the glass like the little inmate he was.

Standing Up

Yesterday I caught Levi standing up all by himself. He makes that play kitchen look tiny! I never got a video of him actually transitioning from the floor to standing up, but I did get this nice one of him falling down.

And since I can't get enough of my cute baby boy, I have posted some pictures that I think are adorable. Gem wouldn't cooperate with me, (as per normal) so no cute pictures of her. I am glad there is at least one happy person at our house.

Stage 3

I just want the yard to be done. We do something and then it seems like it takes weeks to do anything else. Logically I realize that we are zooming through everything really fast, but I feel like it is some horrible slow motion. We (I mean the guys in these pictures) poured our patio, and I think it turned out pretty darn good.

We also bought all the materials for a chain link fence around the back yard. To keep kids in and dogs out. Now we just need to put the fence together. Hopefully soon.

Happy Baby

Levi got his first tooth on March 3rd. I know because I wrote it in his journal. So here we are a month later and he still only has one tooth. But that tooth is making up for all the missing teeth by being enormous. All in all it looks pretty funny.
